Pelargonium cordifolium (scented)

Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful species in the genus, Pelargonium cordifolium is a standout for both foliage and floral display. Its namesake heart-shaped leaves are a deep, “nocturnal” dark green, offering a silky texture and a clean, soapy fragrance. A sophisticated thin brown margin defines each leaf, while the paler undersides create a shimmering contrast throughout the plant. Unlike many other varieties, this species is incredibly hardy and generous; it frequently surprises gardeners by blooming in the depths of winter, sending up large, elegant light violet flowers when the rest of the garden is dormant.
