Native to China, Jasminum nudiflorum is a remarkable deciduous shrub. As the name suggests, its cheerful yellow flowers appear on “naked” green stems well before the first leaves emerge, creating a striking visual during the coldest months. Often called “St. Joseph’s Jasmine” in Southern Europe, as it is traditionally in full bloom by mid-March, it is one of the hardiest varieties available, withstanding temperatures down to -18 °C. It features a graceful weeping habit, making it perfect for cascading over retaining walls or being trained against a fence to brighten up a winter garden.
