Much like Pelargoniums, Jasmines are plants we all feel we know, yet they still hold many secrets waiting to be discovered. In common parlance, the name “Jasmine” is often used to describe a wide array of plants that—while sharing traits like climbing habits or sweet scents—are actually quite different from one another.

For instance, genera such as Trachelospermum (Star Jasmine), Plumbago, Lonicera, Stephanotis, Solanum, Bignonia, Gelsemium, Carissa, and Cestrum are frequently confused with the “true” jasmines. Our collection, however, focuses exclusively on the authentic Jasminum and Chrysojasminum.

The genus Jasminum (part of the Oleaceae family) comprises over 200 species. Most of these remain incredibly rare or are not yet in commercial cultivation. However, many of these lesser-known varieties are highly prized by enthusiasts for their versatility, aesthetic beauty, and remarkable longevity.

The original Arabic name, Yzmin, translates to “white flower,” but you might be surprised to find that jasmines also bloom in vibrant shades of pink, red, and yellow. Our selection reflects their diverse global heritage, with origins spanning from Madeira and Africa to the Arabian Peninsula, Central Asia, China, and across the Pacific Islands.
